The Concept of the River begins:
The quarter moonlit fields outside of Casa Grande Arizona were as good as any place to learn about a new life concept. The road at night has a way allowing your mind to think in many new ways. My brother Walter and I were returning home after seeing Sheryl Crow perform in Phoenix. The energy of Sheryl's voice was incredible. It flowed through my inner core as my truck cut through the cool desert night air. Trying to stay awake Walter and I were talking about life concept ideas for the book. Sometimes you really do not know what people think unless you ask them a few questions, even your own brother.

Walter was telling me a story about the way he looked at his life. His theory on life was relating ones pathway in life to the water in a great river, he said, "as long as you are in the river it will carry you to where you need to go in life." It was a simple statement and I had not thought about my life in this way. This is a very Zen like way of viewing life. The water in the river is the energy of life. This energy will carry, push or guide you through life, as long as you are within the influence of the river. The water of the river represents the life force energy of the world or the will of god if you are a religious person. The underlying concept of the River is to trust without fear the energy of the river will take you to where you need to be in life.

The conversation was keeping me awake as the sweet smelling, middle of the night desert air flickered through the open window. The tires tracked in the grooves of Interstate 10 as they always do, slapping the rough spots as we passed the cotton fields near Red Rock Arizona. That night after the Sheryl Crow Concert I began to realize, this river concept was a new way of thinking about my life.

The concept of the River has always been a part of my life although I have not had this simple overview to tie together these unrelated ideas. Having this overview and breakdown of this concept helps me to understand what I have always known. A force or energy greater than I guides and pushes me through life. In the days following our conversation, I was coming up with some interesting observations which related to the energy of the River being the underling force controlling ones journey through life. Maybe another secret of life revealed unlocked and discovered one more clue to the passion junkie mystery.
