Pride: The one Vato wanted me to get a shot of the tattoo
on his back, he was very proud, he said she protects me from danger.
He wanted to show me his scars from being stabbed in a local gang
fight and told me the story of each scar on his body. It is strange
the bond of trust that begins when you ask someone to photograph
them, most people are honored when they realize you think they
a important enough to be imoratalized in a photograph.
May 2009 In April
of 2009 I sat down with Ester the sister of Guadalupe Castillo,
the man pictured above with the Virgin of Gaudelupe Tattoo. For three
hours she told me stories about her brother. She called him
uncle Marty. I'm going to work on puting that story together. Let
his story be told!
